Some of the biggest names in UK and American music have joined forces to record an emotive cover of the REM classic Everybody Hurts, to raise money for charities supporting the relief efforts in Haiti. The final line up of featured artists is: Mariah Carey, Jon Bon Jovi, Robbie Williams, Kylie, Rod Stewart, Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke, Miley Cyrus, Take That, Joe McElderry, Cheryl Cole, JLS, Mika, Michael Buble, James Blunt, James Morrison, Susan Boyle, and Westlife.
The single is available to download from February 7th, and in stores on CD from February 8th. All proceeds will be split 50/50 between DEC (Disasters Emergency Committee) and The Sun newspaper's 'Helping Haiti' appeal. Prime Minister Gordon Brown has pledged to waive VAT on the single. The Haitian earthquake, which occurred on 12th January 2010 measuring a catastrophic 7.0 on the richter scale, is already estimated to have caused the deaths of over 250,000 people. 250,000 are in need of urgent aid and more than 2 million people are estimated homeless and in need of long term support to help rebuild their lives.

Aqua Perform On 'The X Factor' (Denmark)
Oh boy! One thing is hearing the catchiness of its euro-pop sound in its studio version, and one very different is watching Aqua performing their new single "How R U Doing?" on a stage! Lene (aged 37) has got such a mature look now - reminds a lot to the chick in 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' - to be singing such bubbly-poppy tunes and Rene...no words. But! They'll always be Aqua. Euro/dance-pop is in their veins. The performance on the Danish version of 'The X Factor' was okay. They clearly sang over a pre-recorded track so no real effort on their part. Congrats are in order though! 'How R U Doing?' has quickly cracked the Top 5 on the Danish iTunes. Yey! So happy the song is doing good. It's so catchy! BTW, after the 'How R U Doing?' performance, Aqua delivered a cool rendition of their 2009 hit single 'Back To The 80's', from their Greatest Hits compilation. I also like this more subdued pop style.

Having topped MTV�s Brand New list and forming an integral part of the BBC Sound of 2011, in their short existence, it�s fair to say the Nashville based Mona have caused a few ripples in our musicalFirst Place is a musical collaboration between producer OD Hunte, singer Allegra, 19 year old rapper Frenzee and tattooed frontman Yomi Davies. Their new single �Best of Me� is released in April. I had a chat to three members of the group and this is what they had to say:Numerous bands claim to have broken the late 1980s Indie Brit-pop mould, but few have weathered the last two decades like The Charlatans. And if 11 studio albums, and 17 Top 30 singles haven�t yet convinced critics of their rightful place in music history, their new album out on March 21st will. Tim Burgess and the crew are back, this time with a double deluxe version of their 1999 chart-topping Gold album, Us and Us Only. The new and revised edition features remixes from Lionrock and Jagz Kooner of favourites such as My Beautiful Friends, and live footage taken from the band�s much talked about performances at Reading, Later with Jools Holland and Mark Radcliffe and The Evening Sessions. The orginal release of the album 12 years ago marked a poignant move from their old record label, Beggars Banquet to Island Records. It was also The Charlatans first album following the death of long-term keyboardist Rob Collins, who was tragically killed in a car accident in 1996. Music News� Victoria Dillingham caught up with founding member and bass player, Martin Blunt ahead of the album�s release.
