Status Quo - John Coghlan

It�s been almost 30 years since founding band member and drummer, John Coghlan left the legendary Status Quo, but his commitment and instrumental role in the band�s success has garnered a fan base which has followed him in all of his musical pursuits since. This month sees the launch of Status Quo's Live at the BBC CD & DVD box set. A must-have and collectable for all Quo fans, it features live footage of the band recorded by the BBC dating back to their early days as The Spectres, Traffic Jam and finally the Status Quo we have come to know.We are on a picnic bench backstage , in the rain, catching up with The Whip before they jump into action on Saturday night at Summer Sundae. This week sees the launch of their new album Soulsville, a collection of 60s and 70s soul, blues and Motown classics fresh from the vault of Stax Records. Renowned for their tongue-in-cheek slapstick humour and zany music videos they have establishedVerden Allen is a founding member of legendary rock n� rollers Mott The Hoople, but left the band in 1972 when frontman Ian Hunter was reluctant to use any of Verden�s songs on the band�s albums.Cradle of Filth, the second most successful British Heavy Metal band behind Iron Maiden (according to Metal Hammer magazine) released their new album �Darkly, Darkly, Venus Aversa� on 1st November 2010. A concept album based around the mythical Lilith, it sees Cradle of Filth�s trademark heavy guitars laced with orchestration, and a couple of surprises along the way as well. I took this as an opportunity to sit down with their frontman, the very charismatic Dani Filth, to discuss the new album, the current lineup and the controversy that seems to follow Cradle around everywhere, as well as some other things.
