A 90-year-old man reminisces about his life during the Depression, when he found work at a B-level circus taking care of the animals. He sees the brutality of circus life while falling for the wife of an abusive animal trainer.
Starring Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon, Water For Elephants presents an unexpected romance in a uniquely compelling setting. Directed by Francis Lawrence and based on the acclaimed bestselling novel by Sara Gruen, Water For Elephants is a major Fox motion picture, and opens in the UK on 4th May 2011.
The score is by James Newton Howard, best known for scores for movies such as The Dark Knight (Grammy and Classical Brit Award winner), The Sixth Sense, The Village and I Am Legend. His theme for the TV series ER is also one of his most popular compositions.
The soundtrack album also contains several songs reflecting the era of the film’s setting, including by Ruth Etting and Bessie Smith.
