Wheels - George Runciman, Felix Howes, Yacob Andersen, Stirling Mitchell

Wheels are George Runciman (Vocals/Guitar), Felix Howes (Guitar), Yacob Andersen (Bass) and Stirling Mitchell (Drums), a band of fresh-faced London boys who emulate Britpop cool and create credible guitar pop - think Blur, not Busted. Their influences span at least five decades and include David BowieToploader in their short space of time took and held music listeners by the gills, they teased us, shook us around and then (before they could embed themselves totally in our psyche) abruptly departed the scene. Train�s chequered 16 �year career seems to be heading for a more definite and successful direction lately. Their huge hit Hey Soul Sister has managed a four month stay in the UK charts, a rare feat when one considers that nowadays songs hardlyLondon based grungers Japanese Voyeurs all set to roll into the grubby mitts of rock stardom following the release of their new album, which is yet to be named, later in the year. At only 24 years of age Miles Kane has done more than most in a full career, he's been a guitarist in The Little Flames, lead singer of The Rascals, co-frontman of Last Shadow Puppets and now inThe Scottish Alternative Music Awards is a ceremony and show designed to honour and celebrate the non-Biffy Clyros - the alternative and best new bands in Scotland. As the nominees are announced and the SAMA website growing each day, I caught up with Founder Richy Muirhead to find out more about the event.
